Showing of Dekalog I

Categories: Education Commission

Please join us in the Upper Parish Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26th, for a showing of Dekalog I. Polish film director, Krzysztof Kieslowski, created ten modern stories inspired by the Ten Commandments for television in 1988 – 1989.  They all take place in the same high-rise Warsaw apartment complex, and some of the characters in one film show up peripherally in others.  Only one hour each, these stories are powerful and involving explorations of some of the deepest and most difficult complications of the human condition.  The series has won awards around the world – it won the FIPRESCI Award at the 1989 Venice Film Festival, was honored as Best Foreign Television Program by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, and was named Best Foreign Language Film by the Chicago Film Critics Association in 1997.  On Wednesday, we will watch the first film in the series and follow with a brief discussion.  For further reading visit:
