April Saturday Group Meeting

The April Saturday Group Meeting scheduled for April 12th has been canceled.

Palm Sunday – April 13th

This Sunday is Palm Sunday, and opens Holy Week at St. Michael’s Church.  We will read about Jesus’ triumphal and final entry into Jerusalem, enjoy a festive procession of palms, listen to the Cathedral Choir sing, and will also read the narrative of his passion and death at the end of the service.

Senior High Youth Group (SHYG) Meeting

A meeting is planned for the Senior High Youth Group this Sunday at 4:00 p.m. Come and meet Robert Goodridge, our new Youth Coordinator, to discuss future plans and possible projects to occur between now and June. Pizza and refreshments will be served. All are welcome!

May Newsletter Deadline

The May, 2014, newsletter deadline is Wednesday, April 16th.

Maundy Thursday Supper, Service, and Vigil – April 17th

Join us on Maundy Thursday as we remember Jesus’ last supper with his friends. This year we offer a basic soup supper at 6:45 p.m., followed at 7:30 p.m. by the Maundy Thursday service with Footwashing (for those who wish it) and Holy Eucharist, the last one before Easter. The Memorial Chapel will have been transformed into its own Garden of Gethsemane, where we will keep the reserved bread and wine blessed that evening for use on Good Friday. From 9 p.m. until 6 a.m., we will keep vigil in the garden, echoing Christ’s exhortation that his disciples stay awake, watch and pray on the evening of his betrayal. Join us by selecting a whole, or a portion of, a shift for the night. There is a signup sheet on the bulletin board in the Upper Parish Hall, or contact the parish office at 617-698-1813 for scheduling.

Good Friday 12 Noon Liturgy and Evening Concert – April 18th

Good Friday Liturgy at 12 noon, with Holy Communion from reserve sacrament, and Good Friday reflection by the Rector at 7 p.m. before the concert.

Prayerfully consider supporting the St. Michael’s Orchestra as we offer Mozart’s Requiem on Good Friday at 7:30 p.m. This is a wonderful way to support the Music Ministry’s outreach to promising musicians in the Boston area and to highlight our Chancel Choir and Schola Cantorum. Donors will have the option to dedicate their offering in honor of a loved one in the concert program. Please contact the Director of Music, Frank Van Atta, by email or 617-698-1813, extension #106, for more information.

Holy Saturday – April 19th

At 8 a.m., we offer a quiet and informal liturgy of prayers and reflection for Holy Saturday in the choir stalls of the church. The gathering will last about a half-hour.
At 9:30 a.m., children (and parents) are invited to this festive activity where we wrap children’s flowers with foil and help decorate the Memorial Chapel for Easter. We will distribute these flowers to children on Easter Sunday.
