December 24 (Monday) – Christmas Eve

3 p.m. Family service with children’s pageant, Holy Eucharist, and Cathedral Choir

All children are encouraged to be part of the Pageant on Christmas Eve.  Even if your child is not formally one of the cast, we hope that all children will come dressed in some small way as a shepherd, an angel or a wise man. Visiting children, too!  A simple headdress is perfect.  Children in the congregation will be invited to come forward at various times to sit with Mary and Joseph on the chancel steps.   We will give directions!  Children wishing to share a gift of a toy or a baby item for the Grow Clinic at Boston Medical Center may bring their gift (unwrapped) forward then. A helpful list of toys/baby items is on the Parish Life bulletin board in the upper parish hall.

Mission Trip to New Orleans, leaving January 26 and returning February 2

Hi All,

We need a few more people to join us in New Orleans to volunteer. Mary, John and George can tell you that it’s an unforgettable experience. We’ve met wonderful people and have learned new skills or used ones we already had helping families with their homes. The city is beautiful, food fabulous, and everyone is glad you’ve come. I’ve gone on every trip and take back new experiences each time. If you can’t join us, maybe your spouses would come in your stead. Let me or Judy Rice know if you’re interested. She has to know before the 27th. Thanks!  Lana Agnew

SHYG Participants: FYI and Save the Date

We are going to Mt. Sunapee in New Hampshire on Sunday, January 6, 2013.  We will gather in the back parking lot at 7:45 a.m. and we’d like to depart at 8 a.m. We will share a Communion at the top of Mt. Sunapee together at noontime on January 6.

Parents: if you have a van and you are willing to drive the kids, we’ll have another one or two vehicles for all the ski equipment. Please RSVP as soon as possible to Bob and or Karen if you’d like to go on this day trip. We expect to return to Milton by 6 p.m.

To the beloved St Michaels Community

Governor Malloy in Connecticut has asked houses of worship in his state to ring their bells at 9:30 this Friday (tomorrow) morning in remembrance of the lives lost a week ago in Newtown Connecticut.

He asked them to be rung 26 times in memory of those who died, but that number excludes Adam Lanza and his mother Nancy – the alleged gunman and his mother – who also died in the shooting, and who also are beloved children of God.

In solidarity with other houses of worship in this area that will do this, and in solidarity with the houses of worship inConnecticut, I’d like St Michaels to ring the bell 28 times.  If anyone is interested in coming by to help us ring, we will gather around 9:15am in the foyer.  Hall and Karen
