St. Michael’s and Church of the Holy Spirit in Mattapan will host a series on economic justice and racism during the Sundays in Lent this year. The content and format come from “Creating Common Good,” a conference held this past January at Trinity Wall Street Church in New York. The program – which is free and open to the public – begins Sunday, February 22 at 12:30pm at the Church of the Holy Spirit, and will alternate between Mattapan and Milton through March 22.
Led by the clergy and lay leaders of both parishes, the series will invite attendees to explore the complex issues of race, culture, and economic justice. Each session will include a brief video presentation from well-known authors and activists including Cornel West, Barbara Ehrenreich, and the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, followed by small-group reflection. A light lunch will be served at 12:30pm for anyone in attendance, and each session should wrap up by 2pm.
