Maundy Thursday Join us on Maundy Thursday as we remember Jesus’ last supper with his friends. This year we offer a basic soup supper at 6:45 p.m., followed at 7:30 p.m. by the Maundy Thursday service with Footwashing (for those who wish it) and Holy Eucharist, the last one before Easter. The Memorial Chapel will have been transformed into its own Garden of Gethsemane, where we will keep the reserved bread and wine blessed that evening for use on Good Friday. From 9 p.m. until 6 a.m., we will keep vigil in the garden, echoing Christ’s exhortation that his disciples stay awake, watch and pray on the evening of his betrayal. Join us by selecting a whole, or a portion of, a shift for the night. There is a signup sheet on the bulletin board in the Upper Parish Hall, or contact the parish office at 617-698-1813 for scheduling.
Good Friday Good Friday Liturgy at 12 noon, with Holy Communion from reserve sacrament, and Good Friday reflection by the Rector at 7 p.m. before the concert.
Prayerfully consider supporting the St. Michael’s Orchestra as we offer Mozart’s Requiem and Tavener’s Eternal Memory on Good Friday at 7:30 p.m. This is a wonderful way to support the Music Ministry’s outreach to promising musicians in the Boston area and to highlight our Chancel Choir and Schola Cantorum. Donors will have the option to dedicate their offering in honor of a loved one in the concert program. Please contact the Director of Music, Frank Van Atta, at email@example.com or 617-698-1813, extension #106, for more information.
Holy Saturday At 8 a.m., we offer a quiet and informal liturgy of prayers and reflection for Holy Saturday in the choir stalls of the church. The gathering will last about a half-hour.
At 9:30 a.m., children (and parents) are invited to this festive activity where we wrap children’s flowers with foil and help decorate the Memorial Chapel for Easter. We will distribute these flowers to children on Easter Sunday.
Easter Sunday Join us at 6:30am in the Garden of Seasons for an Easter Sunrise Service, with lighting of the new fire, prayers, and Holy Eucharist. We will meet in the church in the event of inclement weather.
At 9am we have an Easter service with Children’s Homily and Holy Communion, followed by an Easter Egg hunt for pre-K through 2nd grade in the playground, and 3rd through 6th grade in the Garden of Seasons. Nursery care will be available.
At 11am we have our Festival Easter Service accompanied by the Westminster Brass, and distribution of flowers to the congregation!
