At St. Michael’s, we have learning opportunities for all ages. From nursery service to adults young and old, there are a variety of options. We hope you’ll join us.Registration will open in the fall…watch this space!
During the 10 a.m. worship service, infants through age 2 are cared for in the nursery by a rotation of volunteer parents and teen assistants. The nursery is located on the lower level of the Church School building.
Three-year-olds through first-graders start Sunday morning with church school followed by Children’s Chapel, both in the church school building.
Children in grades 2-6 begin Sunday morning with church school and join their families midway into the regular Sunday services.
Periodically, we have Family Services for which church school children are in church for the entire service.
Children are important in our worship services. Five Sundays a year, all children above nursery age (3 and older) join the adults during the 10 a.m. service to celebrate as a whole parish family. A children’s homily is integral to our Morning Prayer services. Boys and girls age 12 and older are eligible to serve as acolytes. A Youth Sunday service, led by the young people of the parish, is a highlight each spring.
Confirmation is a rite of the church that reflects a “mature public affirmation of…faith and commitment to [the] responsibilities of Baptism” for those who have prepared themselves and decided that they are called to a life of faith. Confirmation Class is approximately every other week on Sunday afternoons in the Upper Parish Hall, in addition to scheduled community service in the fall, winter and spring. Beginning in September 2016, Confirmation Class will be available for folks in 9th grade and above. Please contact the Rector for more information.
There are no Church School or Confirmation Classes in the summer.
