Bishop Shaw is walking in the 17th Annual Mother’s Day Walk for Peace on May 12, and he has asked local parishes – including St Michael’s – to walk with him. He has also invited Hall and other local clergy to concelebrate the Eucharist with him as part of the walk.
Ever since last fall and the murder of our own Jorge Fuentes, we in this part of the Episcopal Church have been listening to each other and bringing awareness to the violence in our cities and our country so we can find the most peaceful way forward. Over the last 10 days I have been talking to clergy across our diocese asking them to participate with their congregations in the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute Mother’s Day Walk for Peace, and I have been deeply moved by the willingness to join in this witness. It is important to bring our presence to events that support a vision of peace and healing.
The walk begins at 8:30 am in Fields Corner and goes through Codman Square before returning to Fields Corner, covering approximately 3.6 miles. You can learn more about this event and register at mothersdaywalk4peace.org. When you register, select “St. Michael’s Parsh, Milton” as your team name. We hope to see you there!
