We are delighted to announce that Barbara Lenane will join our Sundays at St. Michael’s as nursery coordinator, to provide safe and loving care to our youngest children during our Sunday services. She will be in the nursery, which is in the lower level of the Church School building, every Sunday morning from 9:45 to 11:30 a.m., during our regular 10 o’clock worship service. Parents of infants and toddlers are invited to bring their children to the nursery, to stay and help if they wish, or to return to the church for the service.
Barbara brings extensive childcare experience to St. Michael’s nursery. She started a daycare group in 2001 that grew into the Adams Street Early Learning Center, and she has provided childcare to Milton-area families for many years. She also worked as a custodian in the Milton Public Schools and is now retired. As parishioners of St. Agatha’s Church in East Milton, Barbara and her husband will celebrate 51 years of marriage in November; they have three grown children and nine grandchildren.
Our youngest parishioners “graduate” from the nursery to Church School once they hit preschool, at around age 3, and we hope they will already have made some friends and experienced the love and attention that St. Michael’s gives to all our children. Spending time in the nursery is just the start of the continuum of Sunday morning experiences that enrich the lives of our children, thanks to the talent and commitment of our Church School Leadership team, and the parents, other adults, and young people who comprise our “faculty.” Our program comes together through the love, vision, consistency, and hard work of Marilyn Cheney, our Director of Christian Education, and her team. Thank you, Marilyn!
We encourage parents of young children to seek out the nursery when we return to our regular Sunday schedule on September 7th. And please be sure to welcome Barbara to St. Michael’s when you see her!
