St. Michael’s Mission Trip to Safe Passage in Guatemala is scheduled for Friday, June 24, to Sunday, July 3, 2016. The group will stay in the colonial town of Antigua, about 45 minutes from Guatemala City. Our goal is to bring hope, education, and opportunity to children and families living in extreme poverty. Safe Passage serves about 600 children, ranging in age from 2 to 21 years, and 100 mothers coming from nearly 300 families in the surrounding neighborhoods.

The firsts two days, the St. Michael’s missionaries will visit the countryside and learn the history and culture of Guatemala. On Sunday, the group will volunteer with elementary school age children and provide encouragement, guidance, and support to pursue their studies and reach their goals. The group will assist teachers and participate in fun, creative activities designed to reinforce students’ knowledge and skills. We will also volunteer one day at the Early Childhood Education Center which serves children between ages two and six years old. The center enhances young children’s health and school readiness, and ensures their well-being while their parents work.

This trip is open to anyone who has a passion for mission, a love for children, and a week to put it all to work in a meaningful way. For more information, please contact Jane Lundquist at jmlundquist@gmail.com, or the church office at 617-698-1813.
